Truter fired by Richards Bay
Richards Bay have fired coach Brandon Truter after defeat by Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday and ahead of their derby match in the Betway Premiership against AmaZulu on Saturday.
Truter took over at the start of the season from Vusimusi Vilakazi but departs after 11 matches in charge, having won only twice.
Truter joined the KwaZulu-Natal club only weeks before the kickoff of the season after Vilakazi had left during the pre-season for AmaZulu.
Richards Bay were a fourth top flight club the 47-year-old Truter, who won promotion for Swallows and also coached at AmaZulu and Sekhukhune United.
Richards Bay chairman Jomo Biyela told reporters on Friday that Truter “did not meet the performance requirements for the season”.
Richards Bay have won one of their eight league games this season but did reach the Carling Knockout semifinals for a second successive year.
They sit one point above the relegation places, having had to secure their top-flight status last season in the end-of-season promotion-relegation playoffs.
Truter joins a long list of coaches who have left their clubs this season, starting with Vilakazi, Peter Hyballa (Sekhukhune United) and Dylan Kerr (Marumo Gallants) before the campaign started and then Pablo Franco at AmaZulu and Sead Ramovic at TS Galaxy.
