WEEK 5: Did URC That?
Welcome to this week's edition of Did URC That, this special little corner of the internet where we bring you up to speed with all the video clips from last weekend's play that we found interesting.
As with all other Vodacom United Rugby Championship rounds, this one delivered everything that could be asked for in terms of entertainment. Allow us to take you on a tour from the sublime to the ridiculous.
1. BACKYARD SPECIAL
It is known for siblings to finish each other's sentences, but accurately predicting each other's thoughts must be a first. But how else can you explain this move by the Hendrikse brothers?
How many backyard games do you think it took to perfect this bit of magic?
2. FREAKSHOW
Last week we showed you the viral clips showcasing Springbok RG Snyman's one-handed lineout takes for Leinster. We thought that would be it.
But then Snyman just went and put in one of the best offloading performances ever witnessed, forcing us to show you some more freak actions from the two magic wands hanging from his shoulders.
3. BOOMERANG
What type of kick
Must a man put in
Before he can gain just a yard?
The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind.
The answer is blowing in the wind.
4. DROP (THE MIC)
Damian Willemse had us all quite excited with some of his play on the occasion of his return to the Stormers' no. 10 jersey. He had quick hands and an elusive step and was generally good on defence - like riding a bike.
He'll probably never see much action in a Bok flyhalf jersey, but that needn't stop us from dreaming. Nothing stops a 15 from doing this...
5. RED, RED, WHINE
It is not as if us South African (especially Bulls) fans want to believe in conspiracy theories, but sometimes URC match officials make it tough for us to fight the good fight.
What you are about to see is Johan Grobbelaar's red card (since rescinded) followed by a Sam Lousi moment of madness - one that didn't even warrant a replay.
How do you expect us to explain this to our grandchildren one day?
