Goals galore in the latest round of MFC fixtures

The third round of 2022/23 Motsepe Foundation Championship action proved to be an exciting one, as teams found joy in front of goal during Tuesday and Wednesday’s list of fixtures.

JDR Stars deposited maximum points in a thumping 6-0 victory over Magesi over at the Soshanguve Giant Stadium, as the home side recorded their first win of the campaign. As for Magesi, the Limpopo side has now lost two games on the trot.

Polokwane City saw themselves go to the summit of the league table following their 1-0 win over Venda Football Academy at the Pietersburg Stadium. Polokwane City lead the way via goal difference, while Venda now occupy 12th spot on the table.

Meanwhile, the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium saw Casric Stars and All Stars fire blanks in a 0-0 stalemate, capping off Tuesday’s round of games.

In another goal-mouthed encounter, the University of Pretoria claimed all three points in a 3-2 win over Cape Town Spurs at the Tuks stadium, in what was a keenly anticipated tie on the current Motsepe Foundation Championship roster.

While Tuks picked up their first win of the season, the Urban Warriors recorded their first loss in the league.

Elsewhere, TTM added to Platinum City Rovers' woes as they came away with a 4-1 win at the Olen Park Stadium. Platinum City Rover remain rock bottom on the log, with three losses in three matches played so far.

Baroka FC kicked on in their Motsepe Foundation Championship bid, following a 3-1 victory against Pretoria Callies at the Global Stadium. Callies have now lost two games on the spin while Bakgaka enjoyed their first win of the campaign.

Uthongathi moved up to second spot on the league table, following their 1-0 win over Hungry Lions at the Princess Magogo Stadium. Hungry Lions succumbed to their first defeat of the season as they dropped 4th on the table.
