Celtic advance as VUT stun Arrows
Bloemfontein Celtic and Real Kings advanced to the 2019/20 Nedbank Cup Last 16 after recording victories in their Last 32 encounters on Saturday afternoon.
Celtic thumped fellow Premier Soccer League (PSL) side AmaZulu 4-1 at the Dr Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein.
Michael Morton (own-goal), Wandisile Letlabika, Tumelo Njoti and Neo Maema all netted for Celtic, while Talent Chawapiwa scored AmaZulu's consolation goal.
Meanwhile, Amavarara FC secured a 2-1 win over fellow lower division side Super Eagles at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in the Eastern Cape.
Goals from Sihle Maso and Khakha Velaphi handed Amavarara the victory, while Thabiso Mofokeng scored for Eagles in the second half.
GladAfrica Championship outfit Real Kings reached the Last 16 after overcoming Passion FC 3-2 at the Kameelrivier Stadium in Mpumalanga.
Philani Cele, Levy Mashiane and Victor Bakah all netted for Eagles and Passion scored through Nhlanhla Masina and Thulani Mbonane.
Lastly, Lamontville Golden Arrows were stunned 6-5 on penalties by Vaal University of Technology (VUT) following a 2-2 draw at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.
Arrows scored through Sibusiso Mokondo (own-goal) and Michael Gumede, while Leuba Tema and Reitumetse Hlongwane netted for VUT.
