Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has warned his side not to take fourth-tier Vaal University of Technology easily in their Nedbank Cup Last 16 clash on Sunday, and says his side will not be ‘showboating’ against the minnows.

VUT have already ousted Lamontville Golden Arrows from the Nedbank Cup this season, the first ever SAB Regional League side to defeat a Premier League opponent.

Sundowns will be heavy favourites though, even with four top stars suspended, including Hlompho Kekana, but Mosimane says past giant-killing acts in the competition that have seen Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates ousted by third-tier opponents should sound a warning.

"I also remember there was Baroka story and there was Maluti [FET College] story. There are a lot of stories like that. It happens with the big teams, the Arrows story. What, don't you think it can’t happen to you?" Mosimane told reporters.

"There is the story of Hungry Lions against Jomo Cosmos and all these things talk to you and your conscience and come back to say, 'Who do you think you are? Are you arrogant not to respect your opponents?'

"The fact that they came up there, it means they are good. I went to watch them last week Sunday because I am anxious to see a team in SAB eliminating Arrows, and you become anxious. I went to watch them and I think I got something out of that.”

Sundowns recorded a 24-0 victory over fourth-tier Powerlines FC in the 2012 Nedbank Cup and Mosimane says he will be asking his side for goals again, rather than tricks and flicks.

"We respect our opponents. I am happy to be part of the team that made history in the Nedbank Cup tournament with Powerlines. I am happy that I am employed by a team that made the CAF record 16-1 [aggregate win]," said Mosimane.

"You can't disrespect your opponents. What I can guarantee you if even if it can be 3-0 or 4-0 we won't be showboating. I like goals more than tricks. I want to see goals."
