The latest round of fixtures in the DStv Premiership produced extraordinary entertainment in the race for second place, as Sekhukhune United beat Orlando Pirates 2-1 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening.

The result sees Babina Noko move to third position above Pirates, just two points off from second-placed Stellenbosch.

The Limpopo outfit has now won five games in a row in the league under coach Lehlohonolo Seema.

Stellenbosch cruised in a comfortable 3-0 victory against struggling Royal AM at home and Cape Town City were held to a goalless draw as they took on Soweto outfit Kaizer Chiefs.

Polokwane City grabbed a crucial 1-0 win against Chippa United and over in KZN, Golden Arrows picked up three points as well after beating relegation-threatened Richards Bay 2-1, adding to their woes.

AmaZulu’s underwhelming spell in the league continued as they lost 2-0 to TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium, and the team’s struggle to find consistency in picking up decent results sees them drop down to 12th position on the log.

Cape Town Spurs’ mission to escape being rooted at the bottom of the log hit a disappointing hurdle as they lost 1-0 to Moroka Swallows on Sunday afternoon, with a late goal from Gabadinho Mhango ensuring three points for the Dube Birds who are also fighting tooth and nail to avoid relegation.
