Late sucker-punch earns Swallows win
Swallows FC edged out Cape Town All Stars 2-1 in a PSL promotion/relegation playoffs match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Wednesday afternoon.
Therefore, Amaswaiswai got their playoffs campaign off to a winning start with two goals from Mbulelo Wambi and Joseph Mhlongo propelling the team to a come-from-behind win.
The Soweto giants will now take on the University of Pretoria on Saturday as they look to secure another win in order to boost their hopes of retaining their status in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

All Stars recorded their second successive defeat in the playoffs with their ambitions of gaining promotion to the PSL from the GladAfrica Championship fading away. Igugu Lekapa will face the University of Pretoria next week Wednesday.
Igugu Lekapa controlled the match from the start and they were able to unsettle the Amaswaiswai defence which was marshalled by the experienced Wandisile Letlabika.
However, the likes of Zaphaniah Mbokoma, Justice Figuaredo and Sabelo Nyembe were indecisive and wasteful in front of goal, and the visitors struggled to register shots on target.
All Stars continued to launch attacks with the halftime break approaching and they managed to break the deadlock when Figuaredo headed home David Matlala's cross to make it 1-0 to the visitors in the 40th minute.
Coach Dylan Kerr introduced Joseph Mhlongo, Ruzaigh Gamildien and Sphesihle Mbhele as Swallows looked to level matters in the second half.
Amaswaiswai were able to seriously test Kyle Peters in the Igugu Lekapa goal-posts with Kagiso Malinga unleashing a low shot which was well saved by the former Bidvest Wits goalkeeper.
Peters was then beaten in the 68th minute after some good work by Dillon Solomons on the right flank as he delivered an excellent cross for Mbulelo Wambi who had the time to control the ball, before scoring to make it 1-1.
The hosts then pushed for the winning goal as the two strikers who were introduced prior to the start of the second half combined to deliver it. Gamildien's cross was turned home by Mhlongo to seal Swallows' 2-1 win in stoppage time.
