The Auto Investments Dragons won the toss and elected to field first in their CSA T20 Challenge match against World Sports Betting Western Province at the JB Marks Oval, Potchefstroom, on Friday.

In their opening match, Wihan Lubbe and Duan Jansen were outstanding as they secured the North West side their first victory of the season. Lubbe, the captain, smashed a 40-ball 58, while Jansen took a three-wicket haul in the rain-affected encounter.

Despite the victory, the Dragons will be concerned about Janneman Malan's 46-ball 40. The home side will hope that the middle-order batter can find his range and scythe opposition bowlers as he is known to.

Western Province travelled across the province to Boland Park and they walked away with two points. Their match against the Rocks was washed out without a single ball delivered.

Salieg Nackerdien will hope that his side hits the ground running. Western Province did not enjoy a great run in the 2023-24 season, and a victory against the Dragons will set them on course for a better season this time around.
