UCL Round 6 permutations: Who needs what?

With 12 teams now through, we discover who else can qualify for the round of 16 and who could be out of the running on Matchday 6.

Through to round of 16: Bayern*, Benfica, Chelsea*, Club Brugge, Dortmund, Inter, Liverpool, Man City*, Napoli, Paris Saint-Germain, Porto, Real Madrid

Could go through to round of 16 on Matchday 6: Eintracht Frankfurt, Leipzig, Marseille, AC Milan, Salzburg, Shakhtar, Sporting CP, Tottenham

Confirmed in third place and the Uefa Europa League knockout round play-offs: Barcelona, Sevilla

Cannot reach round of 16 but can finish third: Ajax, Atlético, Dinamo Zagreb, Juventus, Leverkusen, Maccabi Haifa, Rangers

Confirmed in fourth place: Celtic, Copenhagen, Plzen

Group A

Napoli are through to the round of 16. They will finish first if they avoid defeat by Liverpool by four goals or more.

Liverpool are through to the round of 16. They will finish first if they beat Napoli by four goals or more.

Ajax are unable to reach the round of 16. They will finish third and reach the Europa League knockout round play-offs if they avoid defeat by Rangers by five goals or more.

Rangers are unable to reach the round of 16. They will finish third and reach the Europa League knockout round play-offs if they beat Ajax by five goals or more.

Group B

Club Brugge are through to the round of 16. They will finish first if they win, if both games are drawn, or if Porto lose.

Porto are through to the round of 16. They will finish first if they win and Club Brugge do not, or if they draw and Club Brugge lose.

Atlético are unable to reach the round of 16. They will finish third and reach the Europa League knockout round play-offs if they win, if both games are drawn, or if Leverkusen lose.

Leverkusen are unable to reach the round of 16. They will finish third and reach the Europa League knockout round play-offs if they win and Atlético do not, or if they draw and Atlético lose.

Group C

Bayern are through to the round of 16 as group winners.

Inter are through to the round of 16 as group runners-up.

Barcelona will finish third and compete in the Uefa Europa League knockout round play-offs.

Plzen will finish fourth.

Group D

Tottenham will be through to the round of 16 if they avoid defeat. They will finish first if they win, or if both games are drawn. Spurs cannot finish fourth.

Sporting will be through to the round of 16 if they avoid defeat. They will finish first if they win and Tottenham do not. Sporting will finish third and reach the Europa League knockout round play-offs if both they and Marseille lose.

Frankfurt will be through to the round of 16 if they win. They will finish first if they win and Spurs do not. Frankfurt will finish third if both games are drawn, or if both they and Marseille lose.

Marseille will be through to the round of 16 if they win. They will finish first if they win and the other game is drawn. They will finish third and reach the Europa League knockout round play-offs if they draw and Sporting lose.

Group E

Chelsea are through to the round of 16 as group winners.

Milan will be through to the round of 16 if they avoid defeat. Milan cannot finish fourth.

Salzburg will be through to the round of 16 if they win. They will finish fourth if they lose and Dinamo win.

Dinamo cannot reach the round of 16. They will finish third and reach the Europa League knockout round play-offs if they win and Salzburg lose.

Group F

Real Madrid are through to the round of 16. Madrid will be confirmed as group winners if they win, or if Leipzig do not win.

Leipzig will be through to the round of 16 if they avoid defeat. They will finish first if they win and Madrid do not.

Shakhtar will be through to the round of 16 if they win.

Celtic will finish fourth.

Group G

Man City are through to the round of 16 as group winners.

Dortmund are through to the round of 16 as group runners-up.

Sevilla will finish third and compete in the Uefa Europa League knockout round play-offs.

Copenhagen will finish fourth.

Group H

Paris and Benfica are both through to the round of 16. Paris are currently first on overall goal difference (+8 to +4) as they drew both direct meetings 1-1.

Juventus and Maccabi Haifa cannot reach the round of 16. Juventus are currently third on overall goal difference (-3 to -9) as both teams won their direct home encounters by a two-goal margin.
