CT City defender gets DR Congo call-up

Cape Town City’s new signing Nathan Fasika has been included in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s preliminary squad for their next two World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar next month.

The 22-year-old joined from FC St Eloi Lupopo at the start of the season and has already featured for the Congolese in the Chan tournament but had not bene in the squad for the start of the World Cup qualifiers earlier this month.

The Leopards’ coach Hector Cuper named an extensive list of 53 for the two matches in Group J after the Congolese drew their opening two qualifying matches.

They face the Malagasy at home in Lubumbashi first on October 7 and then go away to Antananarivo four days later.
