SuperSport United have completed the signing of Ethiopian striker Abubeker Nasir on a one-year contract, the club confirmed on Thursday.

Matsatsantsa completed the capture of Tashreeq Morris last week as they look to add to their potency in the final third with a long-term injury to the prolific Bradley Grobler.

Nasir, 24, joined Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of the 2022/23 but had a myriad of injury issues that curtailed his number of starts six, with 19 appearances in all. He scored four goals in that time, including against SuperSport in September 2022.

Matsatsantsa have had a difficult start to the campaign with a tough fixture list that has seen them already play Orlando Pirates twice, Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Cape Town City.

Their only victory in seven games in all competitions came in a 1-0 home success against TS Galaxy. They have scored two goals in those seven fixtures as the loss of Grobler, the club’s all-time leading scorer with 95 goals, is keenly felt.

SuperSport are next in action with a Betway Premiership clash against Chiefs on Saturday.
