Arrows sign former player to strengthen squad
Lamontville Golden Arrows have signed former midfielder Sibusiso Sibeko to strengthen their squad as they look to end a losing streak that has seen them drop down the DStv Premiership standings.
The 28-year-old Sibeko has not played since being released by Marumo Gallants at the end of last season and being out of contract has been a free agent, able to be signed outside of the regular transfer windows.
He came through the junior ranks at Arrows and spent seven seasons in the first team, making his debut in May 2014 when they lost at home to Orlando Pirates.
But he was never able to bed down a regular place in the line-up and made only 33 starts in six top flight campaigns, scoring once.
He moved to Marumo Gallants in 2021 and last season was a regular as the Polokwane-based club reached the African Confederation Cup semifinal.
“We welcome back Sibusiso Sibeko to the team. Sibeko, a product of our development structures, has re-signed with Lamontvillle Golden Arrows. His experience as a senior player will be welcomed and we look forward to presenting him in action soon,” a club statement on Friday said.
Arrows host TS Galaxy at home on Saturday and finish the year with an away match at Moroka Swallows on December 30. They have lost six games in a row and dropped from second to seventh place in the standings.
