Durban’s Super Giants won the toss and chose to field first in their Betway SA20 match against MI Cape Town at Kingsmead in Durban on Tuesday.

MI Cape Town are sitting pretty in the table at the halfway stage, second behind Paarl Royals with 14 points after five matches.

Super Giants, on the other hand, have had a poor campaign with one win, three defeats and one rainout contributing just six points to their tally.

Their only victory, against Pretoria Capitals in their first match, was a fortuitous one with the visitors somehow contriving to lose a contest they looked sure to win.

The home team can take some encouragement, however, from a perfect record against their opponents to date, with four victories spread across the last two editions of the competition.

But their batting will need to improve greatly if they are to test the men from Cape Town in a match they will probably have to win to realistically keep their prospects alive.

Durban’s Super Giants: Matthew Breetzke, Brandon King, Quinton de Kock (wk), Kane Williamson, Wiaan Mulder, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj (capt), Junior Dala, Noor Ahmad, Naveen ul-Haq, Dwaine Pretorius

MI Cape Town: Ryan Rickelton (wk), Rassie van der Dussen, Reeza Hendricks, Colin Ingram, Dewald Brevis, George Linde, Delano Potgieter, Corbin Bosch, Rashid Khan (capt), Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boult.
