Leyds brace kicks off Blitzboks defence

A brace of tries by Tristan Leyds set the Springbok Sevens side for a perfect start to the defence of their Dubai 7s title as they downed Australia 17-0 in their opening game in a very tough pool.

Leyds’ double was the elixir that kicked the Blitzboks on as they showed resolve to hold out the Aussies and keep them scoreless, with Quewin Nortje scoring the only other try.

The Blitzboks face two more tough tasks in their pool, facing Kenya at 12.58pm before their final date with Olympic Champions France at 6.44pm to close out the day.
