SuperSport supports 16 Days of activism against Gender Based Violence

As part of its commitment to the fight against gender-based violence (GBV), SuperSport actively raises awareness and advocates for change across its platforms during the annual 16 Days of Activism against GBV - a global campaign from 25 November to 10 December 2024.

As part of SuperSport’s support for 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence, SuperSport CEO Rendani Ramovha joined the GBVF Response Fund’s clarion call to stand united in the fight against GBV.

The GBVF Response Fund aims to collaborate with various partners and stakeholders in joint efforts to enable the fulfilment of the Fund’s mandate and generate a tangible impact in fostering a safer South Africa for women, children, persons with disabilities, key and vulnerable populations, and the community at large.

Other top leaders who participated alongside Ramovha, included Nolitha Fakude, Anglo President, Charles Molapisi, CEO of MTN, Taelo Mojapelo, CEO of BP, Shirley Machaba CEO of PwC as well as Nomsa Chabeli, Group CEO of SABC.

Ramovha emphasised the organisation's dedication to these causes, stating, "Addressing GBV is important to MultiChoice because it means we are helping make society better for everyone."

“It’s a privilege to use the SuperSport platform as a vehicle that amplifies the call for an end to violence against women and children and bringing a shift in attitudes towards equitability.”

In addition to supporting the 16 Days of Activism, Your World of Champions will be supporting Cricket South Africa (CSA) together with the Proteas Women for the Black Day one-day international (ODI) match against England Women, taking place on 8 December 2024, at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Cricket Stadium in Durban.

Fans attending the match are encouraged to wear black to represent their support for the campaign and to take an active stand against gender-based violence.

SuperSport remains dedicated to using its platform to drive positive change, leveraging sport and media to create meaningful conversations around the issues that matter most.

“SuperSport believes in the power of sports as a catalyst for positive social change. By supporting the Black Day and the 16 Days of Activism campaign, we seek to leverage our platform and reach to promote awareness, inspire proactive participation and create conversations on gender-based violence,” Ramovha added.
