What has been going on in LALIGA this past week? Here are 10 of the top stories, from FC Barcelona’s latest stumble to Real Valladolid’s sacking of Paulo Pezzolano.

There were several interesting developments in LALIGA EA SPORTS this past week, especially at FC Barcelona, where the club celebrated an anniversary but dropped more points in LALIGA EA SPORTS. Their week of mixed emotions is discussed below, along with the other major headlines from across Spanish football.

VINÍCIUS IS THE NOVEMBER PLAYER OF THE MONTH

The winner of the LALIGA EA SPORTS Player of the Month award was announced this past week, and the prize has gone to Real Madrid star Vinícius. The Brazilian scored a hat-trick against CA Osasuna in the month of November, which helped him win the third Player of the Month prize of his career.

THE OTHER LALIGA AWARDS WINNERS FOR NOVEMBER

We also learned this past week who the other November winners are for the ‘LALIGA AWARDS, The Pride of our Fútbol’. The Best Coach was Girona FC’s Míchel, the Best U-23 Player was UD Las Palmas’ Fábio Silva, the Best Goal was scored by CD Leganés’ Munir El Haddadi v Girona FC and the Best Save was made by Villarreal CF’s Diego Conde v Deportivo Alavés.

FC BARCELONA’S WINLESS RUN CONTINUES

FC Barcelona have really struggled in LALIGA EA SPORTS in recent weeks and they’ve now gone three matchdays without a victory. After their loss at Real Sociedad and draw at RC Celta, Los Azulgranas returned home in Matchday 15 but fell to a 2-1 defeat against UD Las Palmas. Their midweek trip to RCD Mallorca now takes on extra importance.

REAL MADRID CUT THE GAP AT THE TOP TO ONE POINT

While FC Barcelona have been dropping points, Real Madrid have cut the deficit and are now just one point behind the Catalan side, having played one game fewer. Los Blancos were at home against Getafe CF in Matchday 15 and, even in the absence of the injured Vinícius, they got the job done, winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappé.

ATLÉTICO DE MADRID MAKE IT SEVEN WINS IN A ROW

The past week was a memorable one for Atlético de Madrid fans, as Los Colchoneros won two games and scored 11 goals. Firstly, they defeated Sparta Prague 6-0 on the road in the Champions League, before also winning away at Real Valladolid 5-0 in LALIGA EA SPORTS.

REAL VALLADOLID MOVE ON FROM PAULO PEZZOLANO

One consequence of Atlético de Madrid’s 5-0 win at Real Valladolid is that Los Blanquivioletas decided to sack coach Paulo Pezzolano after the game. The Uruguayan led Real Valladolid to promotion last season, but the club are going in a different direction with the team currently bottom of the LALIGA EA SPORTS table.

ATHLETIC CLUB ARE IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SPOTS

There was a change in the Champions League positions this week, with Athletic Club now up into fourth place. After Villarreal CF and Girona FC played out a 2-2 draw, the Basque side pulled away from both those teams by defeating Rayo Vallecano 2-1 on the road, coming from a goal down to win thanks to two late goals from Oihan Sancet.

RCD ESPANYOL RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

RCD Espanyol earned a much-needed win this past week, defeating RC Celta 3-1 at home courtesy of goals from Irvin Cardona, Leandro Cabrera and Walid Cheddira. That put an end to a run of four defeats in a row, easing the pressure on coach Manolo González.

CONTRACT RENEWALS AT SEVILLA FC AND REAL SOCIEDAD

There were a couple of contract renewals in LALIGA EA SPORTS this past week, with Sevilla FC and José Ángel Carmona agreeing an extension to 2028 and with Real Sociedad and Beñat Turrientes committing to each other until 2030.

FC BARCELONA CELEBRATE THEIR 125TH ANNIVERSARY

The past week was an important one for FC Barcelona, as the Catalan institution celebrated its 125th anniversary. The club, which was founded in 1899, held a special event to celebrate the milestone at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in the centre of the city.
