Thabo Sefolosha retires after 14 NBA seasons

Thabo Sefolosha, who played 14 seasons for five different NBA teams, retired from professional basketball, according to a report in the New Zurich Times.

Known for his defensive abilities, Sefolosha averaged 5.7 points and 3.7 rebounds over 869 career games for the Chicago Bulls (2006-07 to 2008-09), Oklahoma City Thunder (2008-09 to 2013-14), Atlanta Hawks (2014-15 to 2016-17), Utah Jazz (2017-18 to 2018-19) and Houston Rockets (2019-20).

Sefolosha, 36, helped the Thunder reached the Western Conference finals in 2011 and the NBA Finals in 2012, with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook leading the way on both teams. The Thunder made it back to the Western Conference finals in Sefolosha's last season at Oklahoma City in 2013-14.

A native of Switzerland, Sefolosha was the No. 13 overall selection in the 2006 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers and traded to the Bulls on draft night.
