TS Galaxy will go up against a resilient Magesi side in the Carling Black Label Knockout Cup quarterfinal at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Kick-off is at 15:00 CAT (SA, GMT+2)

CURRENT FORM

The Rockets claimed a 1-0 victory over Chippa United in the Last 16 of the Carling Knockout, and did so in dramatic fashion despite being reduced to nine men in the second half of extra-time.

Sead Ramović will be hoping that his team can show the same fighting spirit in the quarterfinal against Magesi, who also made it to the next stage by pulling off an upset.

Clinton Larsen’s charges defeated an in-form Orlando Pirates in their last Cup match, so they’ll have the same hunger to show determination to book a spot in the semis.

WHAT WAS SAID

Magesi head coach Larsen is determined that they will have the same mentality they had against Pirates in the next match against Galaxy.

“Exactly like it was against Pirates,” Larsen said to the media ahead of the crucial encounter.

“You know it’s our first experience in a Cup competition. It's very exciting for the club, very exciting for 70% of our team that’s never played in a cup competition before so something for us to look forward to as a club.”

“Once again, less pressure on us being the underdogs and that we should use to our advantage. But just pleased that our players keep surprising us, keep fighting and keep trying to execute what we worked on,” he added.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Samukelo Kabini, TS Galaxy - The defender will be required to be on top form in this match to keep Magesi’s attack at bay. The 20-year-old is a double-threat as he offers scoring ability even as a centre-back.

Wonderboy Makhubu - The 27-year-old forward is known for scoring against big teams since the squad’s promotion into the Betway Premiership and scored in their last league match against Kaizer Chiefs. A goal from Makhubu in the quarterfinal could catapult Dikwena Tsa Meetse into the semis.

HEAD-TO-HEAD
