Biggest wins of the season
Orlando Pirates’ runaway win over Marumo Gallants on Christmas Eve matched the record for the biggest margin of victory in a league match in the Premier Soccer League era.
It was only the fourth time a side had won a league match by a seven goal margin.
It was the first occasion a team has scored seven goals in a single half of football in the PSL as they ripped a hapless Gallants side to shreds having gone into the break at 1-1.

The previous record came on the last day of the 2003-04 season whenSuperSport United crushed Zulu Royals (name since re-changed to AmaZulu) 8-1
In that game, Ricardo Katza (two), Daniel Matsau (two), Mandla Zwane, Dennis Masina, Richard Ferreira and goalkeeper Grant Johnson scored. Johnson’s came from the penalty spot when the score was only 3-0. The last five goals came in the last 15 minutes of the game.

The other seven goal margin triumphs was a 7-0 success for Manning Rangers over Hellenic in 2001/02 and SuperSport over Maritzburg United some 10 years later – when six players were on the scoresheet and Jabu Maluleke scored twice.
