AmaZulu coach looks for positives

AmaZulu co-coach Arthur Zwane hopes some positives might yet come out of his side’s 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Stellenbosch in Umlazi in the Betway Premiership on Thursday.

The home defeat was the heaviest for AmaZulu in almost a decade and left the side with one point from their last four home games, in ninth place in the standings.

“Look, in football sometimes when things like this happen, they build character,” said Zwane as he tried to look for positives.

“It's how you come back after a setback. This is a huge setback for us, but it is how we're going to come back from here. Having said that, I think mentally we were a little bit weak, we need to be strong and be better and not allow this to happen again.

“I think this is the third game in a row that we’ve lost at home. It's not right. It's quite disappointing but it gives you, again, the opportunity to look back and see where we made mistakes, how we can we learn from this game.

“It's a case of us now playing our role as coaches, as a technical team, to lift the spirit in the camp and bring them back. These things do happen in football, but it was bad. This is unacceptable.”

AmaZulu are at home to amateurs Mighty Eagles in first round of the Nedbank Cup and play their next league game against SuperSport United at home next Saturday.
