CT City unveil eighth new signing in squad refresh

The refresh of the Cape Town City squad continues at pace as the club unveiled an eighth new player on Wednesday in the form of 25-year-old rightback Sibusiso Ziba from JDR Stars.

Ziba was a key figure for the second-tier side in the 2023/24 season, featuring in all but one of their league games. He made 60 appearances in all for Stars over three seasons.

Ziba has signed a four-year contract with City. he also previously turned out for ABC Motsepe League side Buya Msuthu.

City have already unveiled Angolan midfielder Carlinhos, Hasheem Domingo from Raja Casablanca in Morocco, Kayden Francis from Chippa United, Fortune Makaringe from Orlando Pirates, Namibian international Prince Tjiueza, goalkeeper Elson Sithole from Magesi FC and youngster Lefa Aphane from Tzaneen United.

The club have sold Brice Ambina to Valerenga in Norway and released another Angolan, Jo Paciencia, Khanya Leshabela, Relebogile Mokhuoane and back-up goalkeeper Bongani Mpandle.

Thabiso Kutumela’s loan spell came to an end and he returned to Mamelodi Sundowns, where he was subsequently released and is currently a free agent.
