Dumke returns, Charlie starts in a rotated front row as Daisies welcome Sharks

Club captain Lusanda Dumke returns while Sanelisiwe Charlie starts in a rotated Bulls Daisies front row for round 11 of the 2024 SA Rugby Women’s Premier Division on Saturday.

The Daisies will host the Sharks on the Loftus Versfeld B-field and the coast meets the highveld derby starts at 12pm and tickets can be bought at the stadium ticket office.

The Daisies (45 points) lead second-placed DHL Western Province by four points while their visitors this weekend lie in fifth place on 26 points, three behind Border who occupy fourth.

A win for the visitors would help them close the gap into the top four as the competition nears knockouts while the hosts will want to keep a stronghold to their first place.

Charlie starts at loose head prop with Xolelwa Diliza at hooker and Asithandile Ntoyanto at tight head prop.

Behind the trio will be the lock pairing of Vainah Ubisi and Anathi Qolo with captain Lusanda Dumke at openside flank.

Sinelitha Noxeke slots into blindside flank while Sophy Mashapa adds power to the forwards pack at eight.

Unam Tose (scrumhalf) and Naima Hlatshwayo (flyhalf) combine at halfback.

The two link up the pack ahead to the back line that will see Nelisiwe Mnguni get a run at left wing.

Mnguni pairs up with the experienced Patience Mokone who starts at right wing.

Zintle Nonkasana will provide cover at fullback with Jakkie Cilliers and Sesihle Maguga combining at inside and outside centre respectively.

Hayden Groepes - who continues to push his side to chase the crown as hard as they did their first in 2023 - will have replacement options in Micke Gunter, Doreen Mkhabele, Yonela Ngxingolo, Faith Tshauke, Glenda Baloyi, Mahlatse Nkumishe, Chumisa Qhawe and Lynn-Mari Subke all on the impact squad.
