Bafana, Morocco headline latest African WC Qualifiers

With the latest round of CAF 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers now concluded, South Africa and Morocco took giant steps to qualifying for the popular showpiece, while the likes of Algeria and Burundi bagged massive wins in their respective groups.
Led by Al-Ahli star Riyad Mahrez, Algeria’s 5-1 win over Mozambique saw the North African nation take charge of Group G, with 15 points to their name after matchday six.
The Fennecs piled on the pressure throughout the 90 minutes, while Mohamed Amoura grabbed an impressive hat-trick at the popular Hocine Aït Ahmed Stadium.
Over in Group C, South Africa claimed a crucial 2-0 win against Benin at Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny on Tuesday. Despite being unable to do a last minute training session at the grounds, Bafana Bafana dominated Benin through much of the 90 minutes, as Lyle Foster and Jayden Adams got their names on the scoresheet.
Morocco, who went all the way to the semifinals of the previous Fifa World Cup, ran out as 2-0 winners against Tanzania in their latest matchday assignments in Group E.
The Atlas Lions remain as one of the most in form teams on the African continent and have now bagged five wins from five matches in their World Cup qualifying campaign, while scoring 14 goals and conceding just two so far.
