Despite hitting the woodwork multiple times and missing a penalty, Atleti lost 1-0 to Los Pepineros, whose goal was scored by Matija Nastasić, to mean their club record winning run stops at 15 victories in a row.

Getafe CF earn another positive result against FC Barcelona at the Coliseum

For the fifth season in a row, Getafe CF have earned a positive result at home against FC Barcelona. The two teams met at the Coliseum again on Saturday night and it finished as a 1-1 draw, after goals from Jules Koundé and Mauro Arambarri. That means Barça’s past five results away at Los Azulones have been four draws and one defeat.

Deportivo Alavés have secured their first victory since the arrival of new coach Eduardo Coudet, as they defeated Real Betis 3-1 on the road with all three goals scored by veteran striker Kike García. The 35-year-old conjured up a perfect hat-trick, scoring one with his right foot, one with his left foot and one with his head.

Athletic Club strengthen their grip on fourth place

Athletic Club achieved a 2-1 victory away at RC Celta on Sunday, courtesy of goals from Álex Berenguer and Dani Vivian, earning three more points in their quest to secure Champions League football. They now hold a nine-point lead over fifth-placed Villarreal CF and sixth-placed RCD Mallorca, who take on each other on Monday night.

These are: Atlético de Madrid, CA Osasuna, CD Leganés, FC Barcelona, Getafe CF, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and Valencia CF. The quarter-final draw will take place this Monday, January 20th.
