With Kaizer Chiefs FC announcing a strong legends team for their Toyota Cup exhibition match this coming weekend, the host team Bloemfontein Celtic have followed suite with the announcement of a formidable team of Siwelele household name legends set to entertain the passionate home fans.

Two African powerhouses in Kaizer Chiefs and Tanzania’s Young Africans will do battle in the main event at the Toyota Stadium at 15h00 – but one of the 2024 Toyota Cup points is undoubtedly the curtain raiser, scheduled for 12h30, between Phunya Sele Sele and Amakhosi, played as a tribute to Bloemfontein Celtic honourary Life President Dr. Petrus Molemela.

Siwelele pulled out all the stops with an abundance of stars from yesteryear to choose from.

Entrusted to do duty between the sticks is former Bafana Bafana shot-stopper Shuaib Walters.

Ahead of him is the steely defensive unit marshalled by former club captain Thabo ‘Mr Cool’ Nthethe. He is joined by stalwarts James Madidilane, Elias Ngwepe and Timothy Batabaire as the men responsible for “shutting the back door”.

The midfield boasts a plethora of stars, all who have achieved great acclaim with the Mangaung-based outfit. The likes of Solomon Mathe, Moses ‘Mara’ Spandiel, David Modise and fan favourite Mark ‘Professor’ Mayambela will be orchestrating matters from the middle of the park.

In terms of firepower Celtic can call on the services of deadly marksmen such as Cecil Oersen, Petros Mahlatsi, Lebohang Kukame as the men who will be looking to find the back of the net for Siwelele.

Tickets to the Toyota Cup are available for fans to secure their seats to witness a memorable afternoon of football in Mangaung from as little as R40 across all TicketPro outlets.
