Coach found dead in a room in Malawi
A coach for a top-flight league team died suddenly in Malawi’s commercial capital Blantyre on Thursday.
In a statement, the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) confirmed the death of Chitipa United assistant coach Gift Mkamanga.
Mkamanga was found dead in his bedroom in Blantyre where he was attending a Caf B coaching course at FAM’s Mpira Village head office.
“Mr Mkamanga was found dead in his room this morning after his colleagues noticed that he was missing during breakfast. His body has been taken to the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences for a postmortem and FAM will give an update once it gets the report,” the statement reads.
Mkamanga was set to graduate from the three-month course alongside 23 other participants on 18 October.
Chitipa are a Northern Region-based team campaigning in the elite league and sit third from the bottom of the 16-member league.
