If ever there was a team firing on all cylinders, it would be the Baby SPAR Proteas who are yet to lose a match in the Netball World Youth Cup 2025 Africa Regional Qualifiers.

Precious Mthembuโ€™s charges came into Wednesday's match against Malawi remarkably high in confidence after bagging four wins in four matches.

Based on how both teams have played to date, one would have expected this encounter to be a feisty affair and it proved to be just that.

The Baby Proteas though were more tactically disciplined in the first quarter and took the first quarter 14-4.

The Baby Proteas continued to apply pressure on Malawi, but their opponents refused to back down from the challenge and the South Africans only managed to score nine goals as Malawi added four to their tally.

The overall score at halftime stood at 23-8 in favour of South Africa.

During the championship quarter, Mthembu made some tactical changes upfront to give Giada Prinsloo and Lisa Ingwersen some rest while introducing Renezia Andrews and Zanรฉ Bodenstein on court.

This paid off for the Baby Proteas who took the quarter 10-4 to bring the overall score to 33-12.

The Baby Proteas kept their discipline in the last 15 minutes to grab a well-deserved 44-19 victory.

In the day's earlier matches, Zimbabwe beat Tanzania 62 -17 while Zambia thrashed Kenya 52-32.
