Joburg Super Kings captain Faf du Plessis smashed a stunning unbeaten century to lead his side to an eight-wicket victory against Durban's Super Giants in their Betway SA20 encounter at the Wanderers on Tuesday.

Chasing a competitive 179 to win, the Super Kings made easy of the chase as they got off to a stunning start with a 157-run opening partnership between skipper Du Plessis and Reeza Hendricks.

Hendricks, on the other end, struggled to get going but eventually found his straps before he was caught off the bowling of Reece Topley (1-19) for 45 off 46 balls (hitting four fours and two sixes).

Du Plessis hit the first Betway SA20 century in front of a roaring Wanderers crowd as he brought up his ton off just 54 balls.

It was a superb performance from Du Plessis, who smashed an unbeaten 113 off 58 balls (hitting eight fours and eight sixes).

Wiaan Mulder (1-8) then took the wicket of Donovan Ferreira, who reached for a wide delivery and edged behind for four.

Du Plessis hit a maximum to see his side over the line on 182-2 with five balls to spare.

Earlier on, Heinrich Klaasen scored a gritty half-century as Durban's Super Giants side posted 178-6 after being sent in to bat first.

The Joburg Super Kings struck early as Gerald Coetzee got the early wicket of Quinton de Kock, who lobbed it to backward square leg for six.

Maheesh Theekshana got Kyle Mayers to edge to short third man, with Leus du Plooy taking a diving catch to dismiss the opener for 28 off 15 balls.

Two deliveries later, Theekshana bowled Wiaan Mulder out for a duck but a 75-run partnership between Klaasen and Matthew Breetzke stabilised proceedings.

Coetzee saw the back of Breetzke, who tried to flick the ball but found the fielder at backward square for 28 off 24 balls.

Theekshana (3-30) gave the home side more cheer as he got his third as Keemo Paul was caught for eight off seven balls.

Coetzee (3-21) took his third as Klaasen swung hard and slogged the ball to long-on to get caught for a valiant 65 off 48 balls (hitting seven fours).
