SuperSport United made it three wins in a row in the DStv Premiership when they brushed aside Stellenbosch FC 2-0 at the Danie Craven Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The win elevated Matsatsantsa to the top of the league standings and they are now set to take on Swallows FC in a Gauteng Derby clash on 30 October.

On the other hand, Stellies slipped down to seventh spot on the standings ahead of their clash with AmaZulu on 30 October.

Stellies threatened first through Sinethemba Mngomezulu who broke down the left-hand side and was denied by goalkeeper Richardo Goss at the near-post in the opening stages of the match.

Matsatsantsa then took control of the game and keeper Sage Stephens brilliantly blocked Jamie Webber's close-range shot 10 minutes later.

However, Webber was not to be denied in the 35th minute after Siyabonga Nhlapo won possession in Stellenbosch's half before quickly setting up the former who scored with a low shot to hand SuperSport a 1-0 lead.

The Tshwane giants were leading at the half-time break.

Stellies were the better side after the restart as they piled pressure on the visitors, but they were kept at bay by Goss with some fantastic goalkeeping. The Mamelodi Sundowns loanee produced a fabulous save to deny Mngomezulu, before saving a low shot from a Junior Mendieta free-kick midway through the half.

The hosts were left to rue not taking their chances when Bradley Grobler sealed SuoerSport's 2-0 win in the 67th minute. The veteran marksman made it three goals in as many matches, when he beat Stephens with a decent finish with Ghampani Lungu providing the assist.
