Chiefs DDC @ X

Could this be the season where Kazier Chiefs final lift the DStv Diski Challenge League (DDC) title?

Well, that question will be answered in May. With the DDC celebrating its 10th year since inception, Amakhosi are also having a start of their life in the league.

After 10 matches this season, they have managed to accumulate 23 points, which is their best start to the campaign since the league was established.

They are second on the log as they have equal points with two-time winners, Stellenbosch FC, who beat them by a goal difference.

On Sunday Amakhosi stretched their unbeaten run to six matches when they brushed aside Cape Town City FC 3-0 at Malta Park.

Pheko Phago and Neo Bohloko’s brace in the first half proved to be enough to hand Chiefs maximum points.

Chiefs would now hope to continue with their fine form next Sunday when they face Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates at Dobsonville Stadium.

PIRATES 1-1 RICHARDS BAY

Meanwhile, the Buccaneers failed to collect maximum points this weekend as they had to come from behind to secure a point against plucky Richards Bay FC at Isak Steyl Stadium.

Ntlonelo Bomelo opened the scoresheet putting Rich Boyz in the lead in the 13th minute of the match and they went to the break leading 1-0. However, The Buccaneers fought back and grabbed equalizer in the 57thminute through Mehluleli Maphumulo.

The match was then swinging to both sides with none of them getting a winner, they had to settle for a draw. Pirates hope to return to winning ways against Chiefs in a blockbuster. The draw leaves Pirates in position seven on the log with 19 points, and Bay are behind them in eighth position with 15 points.

CHIPPA UNITED 1-3 MAMELODI SUNDOWNS

Bennet Mokoena, Thulani Zandamela and Ntando Nkosi ensured Masandawana collect maximum points against The Chilli Boys at Sturrock Park in Johannesburg. The victory saw Downs making it four win and one draw in their last five matches and moved to third spot in the DDC table with 19 points. Sundowns would now face their Tshwane Rivals SuperSport United next Saturday.
