Al Ahly commence Caf CL defence against Stade d’Abidjan
With the Caf Champions League set to commence on Tuesday, Al Ahly will begin their title defence against Ivorian club Stade d’Abidjan while Mamelodi Sundowns welcome Maniema to the popular Loftus Versfeld ground.
The 12-time Caf Champions League winners are scheduled to face Stade d’Abidjan on Tuesday at the Cairo International Stadium in what is turning out to be a keenly-anticipated clash in group C.
Al Ahly have been drawn alongside Stade d’Abidjan, CR Belouizdad and Orlando Pirates in group C, while the aforementioned teams will square off at Stade du 5 Juillet on Tuesday night.
Elsewhere, South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns will commence their bid to claim gold on African soil with a tie against Maniema Union at Loftus.
Downs have also been drawn alongside Association Sportive Des Forces Armées Royales and Raja Casablanca in group B.
Elsewhere, Congolese giants TP Mazembe will go toe-to-toe with MC Alger at Stade TP Mazembe in their group A opener. In the adjacent group A tie, Young Africans will hope to impress when they meet Al-Hilal at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in an early Tuesday afternoon kick-off.
