Golden Arrows and SuperSport United played out a goalless draw in the Betway Premiership at the Mpumalanga Stadium on Wednesday evening.

With both teams having mixed results in the league leading up to this fixture, both were looking for the three points but the lack of fire power up front led to the teams sharing the spoils in KwaZulu-Natal.

Arrows looked like the more likely team to score in the fixture, as they had more shots on goal, however, the scales were balanced as Matsantsantsa and the hosts only had two on target each.

The home team was also more dominant in terms of possession and had more corners awarded, highlighting that they had a lot more strength offensively.

In the second half, Nqobeko Dlamini was fouled just outside the box in the 64th minute, as Abafana Bes’Thende added pressure onto the visitors and forced the error. The set piece was taken by Lungelo Nouse, but nothing came out of it.

All in all, it turned out to be a frustrating evening for SuperSport United as their efforts to go in front also did not come to fruition and as the clock ran down it became more evident that the first goal of the match might never come.

The final 10 minutes of the match saw SuperSport go for a final push in Arrows’ final third, however the team defended well.

Bongani Cele had an opportunity to grab the win at the death, however his shot from inside the box was blocked.
