Al Ahly, Esperance & Sundowns drop points in matchday two

Caf Champions League title favourites Al Ahly, Esperance de Tunis and Mamelodi Sundowns dropped points in the group stage matchday two.

The action started on Friday with Angolan side Sagrada Esperança holding Tunisian champions Esperance to a 0-0 draw in Luanda leaving the latter placed second in the group D standings.

In Johannesburg, an encounter between defending champions Al Ahly and 1995 winners Orlando Pirates ended in a 0-0 draw on Saturday, but the former remained at the top of the group C standings.

While Sundowns remained second in the group B standings after letting a lead slip in their 1-1 draw with Moroccan side AS FAR Rabat in El Jadida where Mohamed Hrimat cancelled out Iqraam Rayners' opener on Saturday.

On Sunday, Sudan's Al Hilal Omdurman became the only team with a 100 per cent win record with two matches played after securing a 2-1 win over DR Congolese giants TP Mazembe in a group A clash in Nouakchott.

In Bamako, Djoliba AC picked up their first point in group D when they drew 0-0 with Egyptian outfit Pyramids FC, the group leaders, who were tamed by the hosts' stubborn defence on the day.
