Sebastian Soderberg continued his fine form with an opening round 63 to take the lead at home in the Scandinavian Mixed golf tournament on Thursday.

The Swede carded an eagle and seven birdies to open up a two-shot lead on South Africa's Dylan Frittelli and England's Alex Fitzpatrick in the event which sees 78 men and 78 women compete for one prize fund and one trophy.

"There's a lot of family and friends here and it's easy to put extra pressure on yourself wanting to play good in front of them," said Soderberg.

"I did feel a little extra adrenaline on the first tee which doesn't happen that often on a Thursday but I got off to a good start and it was nice to have everyone out there the whole day."

The 33-year-old has had three top ten finishes in 2024 with a second, second and third in consecutive events to top the Asian Swing and earn a place at the US PGA Championship.

His sole DP World Tour victory to date came in a five-man play-off which included Rory McIlroy at the 2019 European Masters.

Former champion Linn Grant, playing in her home town of Helsingborg, and Ireland's Lauren Walsh were the best-placed Ladies European Tour players on five under par.

Grant, the DP World Tour's first female winner after lifting this trophy in 2022, cancelled out a double-bogey with an eagle while also making five birdies.
