FC Barcelona currently lead the table, but Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid are still in the mix, while the relegation battle is tight too with five teams separated by three points.

The current LaLiga EA Sports season is building towards its conclusion, and everything is still to play for. It’s so tight in all sections of the table, from the title race to the European qualification and relegation battles, meaning 10 thrilling matchdays remain.

FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid are fighting for the title

FC Barcelona are the league leaders with 60 points and they’re level on points with second-placed Real Madrid, although the Catalans have one game in hand. In third place sit Atlético de Madrid on 56 points, four points behind the top two. Fourth-placed Athletic Club, on 52 points, can’t be ruled out either.

In the most recent matchday, just ahead of the March international break, there was a heavyweight clash in the LaLiga EA Sports title race, which ended with Barça defeating Atleti 4-2 at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.

That victory could be worth its weight in gold by the end of the season, as it puts Los Blaugranas firmly in the driving seat, especially if they win their game in hand against CA Osasuna.

As much as that was a big win, FC Barcelona certainly can’t become complacent, as Real Madrid are right there after their own away win, a 2-1 victory over Villarreal CF at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

It was a tough game for Los Blancos, but Thibaut Courtois put in a strong performance and Kylian Mbappé turned up at the other end by scoring the two goals to keep this title race as tight as possible.

Villarreal CF and Real Betis battle for fifth and a possible Champions League spot

Both Villarreal CF and Real Betis hope to qualify for the Uefa Champions League, and fifth might be enough for that this year depending on how many places Spanish clubs earn for next season’s edition.

In any case, they’ll both try to catch fourth-placed Athletic Club to guarantee passage to Europe’s top club competition, even though the eight-point gap to the Basques is significant.

The clubs from Castellón and Andalucia are level on 44 points right now, although Villarreal CF do have a game in hand against RCD Espanyol. And, these two sides still have to face each other once more.

It will be thrilling to watch them jostle for position, especially since Real Betis have won five games in a row to shake up this European race.

Eight teams separated by seven points in the European race

Looking a little further down the table, the race to claim one of the final European spots is absolutely fascinating. From seventh-placed RCD Mallorca, who sit in what could be the last Europa League spot, down to 14th-placed CA Osasuna, there are just seven points of difference.

After their 2-1 win over RCD Espanyol in the last matchday, it’s RCD Mallorca who lead this pack on 40 points, while eighth position, which could be a Conference League berth, is held by RC Celta on 39 points, after the Galicians have gone six matches (four wins and two draws) without losing.

But, there are half a dozen other clubs also dreaming of competing on the continent. And, some of them have recent experience of doing so, in Sevilla FC, Girona FC and Real Sociedad.

In the case of Sevilla FC, they’ve won the Europa League more times than any club, so they hope to return to that sacred place. Girona FC, meanwhile, just played in the Champions League this current season and would be delighted to make any European competition again next year.

Then, La Real hope to qualify because it’d be the sixth season in a row booking their ticket to Europe.

Other clubs in the mix, such as Rayo Vallecano, Getafe CF and CA Osasuna, aren’t so used to European football, even if they’ve all qualified at least once before.

Their primary objective is usually just to avoid relegation, and they’re all close to confirming that, before they’ll turn their attention to the promise of European football, competing for that final ticket without pressure.

An incredible relegation battle

At the bottom, Valencia CF, RCD Espanyol, Deportivo Alavés, CD Leganés, UD Las Palmas and Real Valladolid are fighting to avoid relegation down to LALIGA HYPERMOTION. In the case of Real Valladolid, it’ll be especially difficult since they’re currently last and 11 points adrift of safety.

The others could all still end up either side of that red line, with second-bottom UD Las Palmas just two points from safety and with third-bottom CD Leganés actually level on points with Deportivo Alavés, who currently occupy 17th, the final safe position.

Just one point above them are RCD Espanyol and Valencia CF, with the latter having put together some good results of late to breathe a little easier.

At all levels of the table, LaLiga EA Sports is proving to be more exciting and interesting than the other top leagues on the continent. There are just 10 matchdays left, and a lot still to decide. The business end of the season is here!
