Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler says that he would like a trophy to come to Cape Town ahead of the next round of the Carling Knockout this weekend.

The remaining eight sides are set to battle it out for a place in the semifinals, and competition is tight since Magesi pulled an upset in the Last 16 to knock out an in-form Orlando Pirates side.

On SaturdayRichards Bay  will play the first quarterfinal match of the tournament against Cape Town City at the King Zwelithini Stadium.

Tinkler says that his team is fully focused on the tournament after losing 3-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns in the midweek.

“Let’s not look at the past, but focus on the future – the focus turns to this game against Richards Bay,” Tinkler said in Johannesburg on Wednesday.

“Our target and objective from the beginning of the season was in the league to again try and finish in the top four.”

“We would like to bring a trophy back to Cape Town. It has been a while now since we last won a trophy, and that target was set at the beginning of the season,” Tinkler added.

“We find ourselves in the quarterfinal of this competition, and this match is important for us in order to achieve that objective."

“Richards Bay can be difficult. Trut (Brandon Truter) is a good coach, which makes it difficult when you play against them.”

The KZN outfit edged Sekhukhune United in the previous round, and will be looking to do the same in this next round against the Capetonians.

The headlining fixture later on the day is the clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns at the FNB Stadium.

Kick-off is at 18:00 CAT (SA, GMT+2)

The round of fixtures continues on Sunday, 3 November and the first clash of the day features Marumo Gallants taking on Stellenbosch at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium.

At the same time, TS Galaxy will take on PSL newcomers Magesi at the Mbombela Stadium.
