February can be make or break for SuperSport in DDC title race

SuperSport United coach Roscoe Krieling believes their next six fixtures could be a make or break in their DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) title race.
In the last three months, SuperSport has played 10 matches, winning nine and losing once. However, Krieling is convinced that in their next six games against Cape Town City FC this weekend, Stellenbosch Fc, Polokwane City, Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Kaizer Chiefs could determine where they finish in the log.
"We are taking at each game as it comes but if you look at our next matches, we are facing all the top teams in the log, who are challenging for the title. They will be crucial," said Kreiling.
"Idas Valley won't be easy when we go there, we have a derby withing, Pirates and Chiefs – we will just need to remain humble, try to grind result from those matches and see how it goes."
The 2022/23 Diski Champions are among the teams that have scored many goals this season as they have found the back of the net 41 times, but Krelieng is concerned that they have also conceded over 20 goals (21).
When Matsatsantsa won the league in the 2022/23 season they recorded 63 points. In the past three seasons, the league has won by 69, 63, and 64 points.
Kreiling knows what could potentially see them winning the league at the end of the season.
He added: "We are targeting 64 points, but it will not be easy."
This weekend they will host The Citizens at Giant Stadium on Saturday. They are heading to that match having received a huge boost with the return of talisman Thabang Mahlangu and star midfielder Thabanag Makubo who were on a month-long trial in Spain.
Heading matchday 18, SuperSport are third on the log with 37 points, one adrift of Sundowns and Stellenbosch who are first and second respectively.
