The United States men's Olympic football team will play its final warm-up game against Japan in Kansas City ahead of the tournament in France in July.

The USA team, which is an under-23 squad with three over-age players allowed in the Olympics, will take on Japan, who have also qualified, at Children's Mercy Park, the home of MLS's Sporting Kansas City.

The USA have not qualified for a men's Olympic football tournament since 2008 in Beijing.

"We've had a number of productive training camps in preparation for the Olympic Games and we're excited to play in front of American fans in our last game before we travel to France," head coach Marko Mitrovic said.

"It's important for us to continue building toward the Olympics and we know that Japan will provide a strong test. Kansas City is known for its passionate soccer fans and it will be a great host for our final match in the United States."

At the Olympics, the Americans will face host France in Marseille on July 24, two days before the opening ceremony in Paris.

The US will then face New Zealand on 27 July, also in Marseille, and will finish the group stage against Guinea three days later at Saint-Etienne.
