Matteo Berrettini won the ATP 250 tournament in Marrakesh on Sunday, beating Spaniard and defending champion Roberto Carballes Baena 7-5, 6-2 in the final.
The 27-year-old Italian former world No 6 was playing in his first final since the one he lost in Naples in October 2022.
He has slipped to 135th in the world after a series of physical problems and returned from injury less than a month ago.
The Wimbledon 2021 finalist was very solid defensively and on serve, and did not have to exert himself to deny 31-year-old Carballes a second consecutive title on Moroccan clay.
Berrettini's eighth tour title will lift him back into the ATP top 100 as of Monday.
