Ethiopia Nigd Bank through to last 32 of the CAF Champions League

Ethiopia Nigd Bank, also known as Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE), have qualified for the last 32 of the CAF Champions League courtesy of an aggregate win over Uganda's SC Villa.

This was the second leg of their first foray into Africa and the CAF Champions League following their surprise league title win last season.

It was a very competitive first half which ended goalless, but CBE got their break in the 64th minute.

The Ethiopia Premier League champions scored through Suleiman Hamid.

However, the Ugandans were back on level terms after 10 minutes as SC Villa scored an equaliser through Patrick Kakande.

There were no more goals as the game ended all square at 1-1 with CBE advancing 3-2 on aggregate.

Ethiopia Nigd Bank won the first leg in Kampala 2-1 which gave them a huge advantage coming into the second leg.

They will next face Tanzanian giants Young Africa.

Young Africa beat Burundian champions Vital'O 10-0 on aggregate to advance to the round of 32.

The first-leg match will be between 13-15 September and the second leg from 20-22 September.
