Inconsistency has proven to be Orlando Pirates' Achilles heel in the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC). This season, the Buccaneers have been a shadow of themselves, and as things stand, they are not even considered among candidates to clinch the DDC title.

Their fluctuating results have given Magesi FC some courage that they can beat them in the DDC festival scheduled to take place at Seshego Stadium on Saturday at noon.

"Most of our players are experiencing this Diski Challenge set up for the first team in their playing career. And we are proud of how the team fared from the beginning of the season up until now," said Magesi coach Tlou Segolela.

The former Pirates winger mentioned that it motivates their players from rural areas when facing big teams.

"If you look, we have given almost all the big teams a tough time and this weekend, with the boys playing in our kasi (location, Seshego), as most of them are from there, we can get a result against Pirates."

'WANT TO SHOW WHAT WE ARE CAPABLE OF'

Magesi shocked many when they drew 1-1 with league reigning champions Stellenbosch FC and then defeated Sundowns 2-1 before holding Pirates to a 1-1 draw.

"We are prepared and the boys want to show everyone what we are capable of. We have done a lot of work on our attack recently and also improved defensively," added Segolela.

Magesi are currently in 11th place in the DDC log with 14 points, while Pirates sit in seventh place with 28 points.

The Buccaneers seem to be finding their feet, but it remains to be seen if they can overcome Magesi, the same team that frustrated them in the first round in Johannesburg. Pirates' in-form striker Siphamandla Msezane will be carrying their hopes as he has been lethal upfront, netting 10 goals in 17 appearances this season.
