AmaZulu have confirmed the departure of left winger Mxolisi Kunene, the latest change to their squad ahead of the resumption of the DStv Premiership season next week.

Kunene arrived at Usuthu from Maritzburg United in July 2021 but made just six starts and had not been used at all this season by coach Pablo Franco.

The 32-year-old also previously turned out for Moroka Swallows in the second-tier and Baroka FC, but had the best spell of his career with Maritzburg.

The club also released left-back Sibusiso Mabiliso and defensive midfielder Tercious Malepe in January, while they brought back Zambian striker Augustine Mulenga from Chippa United and have loaned left-back Sifiso Ngobeni from Mamelodi Sundowns.

It made them one of the more active teams in what was otherwise a very quiet transfer window for PSL clubs.

AmaZulu are scheduled to resume their league campaign with a trip to Stellenbosch FC on Tuesday.
