Brazil will return to the MotoGP world championship calendar from 2026 and for at least five years, the championship promoter announced on Thursday.

The race will take place on the Goiania circuit, which now bears the name of former Brazilian Formula 1 world champion Ayrton Senna.

The circuit, located 200km south-west of the capital Brasilia, previously hosted a round of the MotoGP championship between 1987 and 1989.

The Brazilian leg of the championship was then moved to the Interlagos circuit near Sao Paulo with the last race taking place in 2004.

"MotoGP aims to expand its audience exponentially over the coming seasons, and both Brazil and South America are key markets with much to offer," said organisers Brasil Motorsport in a statement.

South America is already on the MotoGP destination list with Argentina featuring among the 22 rounds of the 2025 championship, although the future of that race remains uncertain.
