Wood retains WBA featherweight title

In an all-British world title clash, Leigh Wood retained his WBA featherweight title with a seventh-round knockout against former two-time IBF champion Josh Warrington at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield, England on Saturday night.
Warrington was in control until the seventh round when a big right hook from Wood stunned him and, after a barrage of punches, Warrington went down and was unable to continue.
Wood improved his record to 28-3; 17 and Warrington’s record dropped to 31-3; 8.

HARPUR AND BRAEKUS FIGHT TO A DRAW
In a women’s bout, WBA female junior middleweight champion Terri Harper (13-1-2; 6) and 42-year-old former undisputed welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus (37-2-1; 9) fought to a 10-round draw.
SOUTH AFRICA'S DLAMINI WINS IBF ELIMINATOR
South Africa’s Lerato Dlamini (20-2; 11) won on a 12-round split decision against former two-division world champion Tomoki Kameda (40-4; 22) in Tokyo, Japan on Saturday in an IBF featherweight title eliminator.
It was a closely fought contest throughout, with Dlamini going down in the 10th round, which was ruled a slip.
Zurdo RAMIREZ WINS WBA ELIMINATOR
In a WBA cruiserweight eliminator, Zurdo Ramirez (45-1; 30) won on a 10-round unanimous points decision over Joe Smith Jr. (28-5; 22) at The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Saturday night.
Ramirez dominated throughout to win with scores of 99-91 on all three judges' scorecards.
2016 Olympic silver medallist Bek "The Bully" Melikuziev (13-1; 10) stopped Alantez "SlyAza" Fox (28-5-1’ 13) to retain his WBA intercontinental super middleweight title.
Light heavyweight Darius “DFG” Fulghum (8-0; 8) stopped Alan Campa (18-9; 12) in the first round. The time was 2:58.
Junior middleweight Jose Sanchez (14-3-1; 4) won on a majority decision against Eric Tudor (9-1; 6) over eight rounds.
The scores were 78-74, 77-75, 77-75.
SCULL WINS AGAINST ROSS
William Scull (21-0; 9) outpointed Cristian Fabian Rios (23-19-3; 7) over six rounds on Saturday night at the Stadthalle in Falkensee, Germany (a suburb of Berlin).
The scores were 60-53 on all three judges’ scorecards.
IGLESIAS RETAINS IBO TITLE
Osleys Iglesias (9-0; 8) knocked Artur Reis (11-1; 8) in the fourth round on Saturday night at the Maritim Hotel in Magdeburg, Germany to retain the IBO middleweight title.
In a cruiserweight bout, Roman Fress won on a third-round technical knockout over Milosav Savic.
COOLWELL WINS WBA OCEANIA TITLE
Australian featherweight Dana “Deadly” Coolwell won the WBA Oceania title on Saturday night when he stopped Angelo “Axe Boy” Beltran in the seventh round at Club Mooloolaba, Sunshine Coast.
The time was 48 seconds.
SHIGEOKA WINS WBC TITLE
WBC interim minimum champ Yudai Shigeoka (8-0; 5), who fights from the southpaw stance, won on a wide 12-round points decision (119-109 twice and 117-111) against WBC champion Panya Pradabsri (40-2; 24) from Thailand over 12 rounds on Saturday in Tokyo, Japan.
SHIGEOKA WINS IBF TITLE
Japanese southpaw, IBF interim minimumweight champion Ginjiro Shigeoka (10-0-1nc; 8) stopped IBF champion Daniel Valladares (27-4-1-1nc, 15) at 2:15 in the fifth round to claim the full title.
