A try from Springbok winger Cheslin Kolbe was the only thing Toulon had to celebrate in their lossLa Rochelle this weekend.

The diminutive World Cup winner chased down an accurate crosskick from Toulon’s flyhalf Ihia West to score in the corner, the only celebration in their 23-8 defeat to the European Champions in the Top 14 on Saturday.

Staying in France, Springbok prop Trevor Nyakane helped Racing 92 to a tumping 55-14 win over Bayonne, while another Bok prop, Vincent Koch, came off the bench for Stade Francais in their 32-16 loss to Clermont.

Springbok Rynhardt Elstadt also came off the bench for Toulouse, who defeated Bordeaux 31-17 to top the points table.

Across the English Channel in Premiership Rugby, Springbok flyhalf Handre Pollard and Bok teammate Jasper Wiese ran out for Leicester Tigers. Pollard kicked five points for the Tigers, who went down 17-20 to a Harlequins outfit featuring Bok bruiser Andre Esterhuizen. It mattered little, as their place in the Premiership semifinals was already secured.

The Leicester Tigers are set to take on the Sale Sharks, who ran out 54-12 winners over the Newcastle Falcons with the help of Springboks Robert and Jean-Luc du Preez.
