Handre Pollard show some of his best form in the last six months as he guided Leicester Tigers to a 44-29 win over Clermont in their Heineken Champions Cup tie.

The Springbok pivot kicked four conversions, two penalties and delivered a sublime inside pass that led to a try in the second half just before he was replaced.

World Cup winner Warrick Gelant enjoyed a bright outing for Racing 92, as he earned a try assist and made 58 metres from his ten carries. The French giants fought off a comeback from a Harlequins outfit - that featured Springbok centre Andre Esterhuizen - to win 30-29 at the death.

Despite Springbok scrumhalf Cobus Reinach’s try, Top 14 champions Montpellier would go down 35-29 to Ospreys.

A man down due to a red card, Sale Sharks limped to a 27-5 loss to Toulouse, who had Springbok Rynhardt Elstadt on the bench. Springbok flyhalf Robert du Preez and his rampaging brother Jean-Luc ran on for Sale.

Defending European champions La Rochelle scored a try in the dying embers of their clash against Ulster to beat them 7-3 in the French rain. Springbok behemoth Duane Vermeulen played a full 80 minutes for the Irish club, while Bok flyer Raymond Rhule barely touched the ball for the hosts.

Across the Pacific in the Land of the Rising Sun, Springbok beanpole Lood de Jager scored his first try for Wild Knights in Japan Division One. The Knights overpowered a Toyota Verblitz team that featured Boks Pieter-Steph du Toit and Willie le Roux 34-19.

Another Springbok crossing the whitewash was Jessie Kriel, helping Canon Eagles thump Kintetsu Liners 74-7. Faf de Klerk also started for the Eagles.

Finally, Springbok utility forward Marcell Coetzee led the Kobe Steelers to a 39-19 loss at the hands of Suntory Sungoliath.
