DAY 2: Reeves-Fortuin soldiers on for Boland

Clyde Reeves-Fortuin fought his way to a wonderful half-century that led Goldrush Boland to 208/8 on the second morning of their CSA 4-Day Series match against the DP World Lions at Boland Park on Friday.
The encounter was stopped by rain an hour into the second day. Boland had Reeves-Fortuin (57*) and Siya Mahima (0*) at the crease at the break.
This is the third time the contest has been interrupted by inclement weather. On day one, the teams had a brief stop in the afternoon, then stumps was called early after bad weather prevented play after tea.
Reeves-Fortuin picked up from where he left off on day one. The Boland captain added 14 runs to his overnight tally before the innings was interrupted. He lost his overnight partner, Glenton Stuurman (14) as he worked his way to a 19th First-Class half-century. He faced 117 deliveries to reach the milestone.
While Reeves-Fortuin fought to keep Boland in the contest, Bjorn Fortuin was doing his best to upend their efforts. The Lions spinner upgraded from his four-wicket haul on day one to a five-wicket haul. The 30-year-old was unplayable on the first day and remained so on the second day.
The Lions tweaker conceded only four runs in the four overs he bowled on Friday morning. He also took a wicket in the process. He had bagged five wickets for 75 from 31 when play was stopped. This is his eighth First-Class five-wicket haul. The wickets left him on the cusp of 200 First-Class wickets. He is now on 199.
No other Lions batter took a wicket on Friday morning. However, Junaid Dawood and Nqaba Peter bagged three between them on day one. Dawood had two wickets for 41 runs in 10 overs, while Peter had a single wicket for 25 runs in 10 overs at the interval.
