DAY 4: Subrayen leads Dolphins to victory, Dragons, Boland share spoils
Subrayen leads Dolphins to victory over the Knights
Prenelan Subrayen bagged his 11th first-class five-wicket haul as he led the Hollywoodbets Dolphins to victory by an innings and 16 runs over the Knights in their CSA 4-Day Series match at the Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein, on Sunday.
The Dolphins won the toss, elected to bat first and scored 570 for nine declared in their first and only innings. The Knights replied with a first-innings tally of 315. Sarel Erwee, the Dolphins captain, asked Dane Piedt and his side to follow on, and the home side only managed 239 runs. They lost their last wicket just before what would have been the tea break.
Subrayen was in fine form as he broke down the Knights' batting order on the final day. The 31-year-old bagged five wickets for 68 runs in 40.3 overs. The spinner bowled from one end, unchanged, for the entire session. His toiling was rewarded with a wicket. This is Subrayen's 11th first-class five-wicket haul. He finished the match with seven wickets for 134 runs, and he was the leading wicket-taker in the match.
Subrayen was supported by Daryn Dupavillon, who took three for 49 runs in 19 overs. Andile Simelane and Okuhle Cele took a wicket each in the innings.
Subrayen's effort neutralised the valiant efforts from Lesogo Senokwane and Jacques Snyman, who scored half-centuries in the Knights' second innings. The pair were the only scorers for the home side that reached and passed the 40-run mark.
Besides Subrayen's five-wicket haul, the Dolphins' victory was also built on the foundation laid by Bryce Parsons, Slade van Staden and Tshepang Dithole. The trio scored centuries in the visitors' first innings. Dithole was the first centurion with a well-made 104 off 186 deliveries. This was Dithole's fourth first-class century. He faced 178 balls to reach the milestone.
Parsons was the second Dolphins batter to record a ton and his was the highest. This is his third first-class century. The 23-year-old faced 177 deliveries to reach the milestone. He was dismissed for 118 off 197 balls. The third batter to reach 100 runs, Slade van Staden scored 111 off 161. This is the 21-year-old's maiden first-class century.
Romashan Pillay, who registered a second first-class half-century and Andile Simelane, who chalked his maiden four-day half-ton, were the other batters to reach milestones. The five batters' combined effort created an unassailable total for the Dolphins.
As they did in the Knights' second innings, Lesego Senokwane and Jacques Snyman were the standout batters for the home side in the first dig. Senokwane scored a brilliant century, 108 off 194, and Snyman registered a half-century, 81 off 96. However, the story of the Knights' outing was that the duo did not get support.
Okuhle Cele was the pick of the Dolphins' bowlers in the Knights' first innings with his seventh first-class four-wicket haul. He finished with four wickets for 66 runs in 21 overs.

Dragons and Boland share spoils at Potchefstroom
The Renault Potchefstroom North West Dragons and Goldrush Boland shared spoils after their CSA 4-Day contest at the JB Marks Oval, Potchefstroom, was declared a draw.
The captains of the two sides shook hands 30 minutes before tea on the fourth day of their encounter. Boland had scored 150 for four declared and had a 286-run lead over the home side. There was no hope that the Dragons could chase down the total in a session, and it was unlikely Boland could bowl out the Dragons in the same period.
Boland won the toss, elected to bat first and scored 594 for six declared. The Dragons replied with a first-innings total of 458.
Boland's colossal first-innings total was built on the back of Grant Roelofsen's 240 runs off 317 balls. This is the opening batter's new career-best first-class score. His previous best was 224. This is Roelofsen's 10th first-class century and he needed 104 deliveries to reach the milestone. It was also his second century in two matches.
Roelofsen shared a sensational 390-run second-wicket partnership with Gavin Kaplan. The 26-year-old came into the match with a single to his name. As he did when he chalked his maiden first-class century, 173, Kaplan scored north of 150. He scored 166 from 238. Aviwe Mgijima was the other batter to reach a milestone with a positive 81 off 149.
Caleb Seleka and Ruan de Swardt starred with the ball for the Dragons with six wickets between them. De Swardt finished with three wickets for 107 runs in 29 overs. Seleka took three wickets for 128 runs in 28.5 overs.
Like Boland, the Dragons had two centurions in their lineup. Matthew Kleinveldt scored a brilliant 133 from 192 balls. The 36-year-old faced 146 deliveries on his way to his 17th first-class century. The other centurion was Lesiba Ngoepe.
The 31-year-old shared a 134-run second-wicket partnership with Kleinveldt. After Kleinveldt's dismissal, Ngoepe took control of the innings as he marched towards his fourth first-class century. He faced 162 deliveries on his way to the milestone.
The star for Boland with the ball was Shaun von Berg. The seasoned bowler bagged his 23rd first-class four-wicket haul. He finished with four wickets for 106 runs in 43 overs. Von Berg also registered 500 first-class wickets during the innings. He was supported by Aya Gqamane, who finished the innings with three wickets for 68 runs in 17 overs.
Blayde Capell registered his 12th first-class half-century in Boland's second innings. This was his first four-day match for Boland. It was also his maiden Division One match. He faced 76 deliveries for the milestone and finished the match with 57 runs from 99 balls. Clyde Fortuin was unbeaten on 43 when the match was declared a draw.
The Dragons are one of the two teams yet to be defeated in the tournament. The other one is the DP World Lions, who have three wins and a single draw. Unlike the Lions, the Dragons are yet to win a match. They have drawn all four of their matches. This is Boland's second draw in the tournament. They have won one, drawn one and now have a draw.
