Henry Slade landed a 45-metre penalty with the last kick of the game to snatch a 25-24 victory for Exeter over Gloucester on Sunday.

Gloucester looked set for their first win at Sandy Park since 2015 when they lead 24-15 with just four minutes remaining.

But Stu Townsend's try was converted by Slade before the England centre slotted over the winning kick.

Two losing bonus points to ensure they edge up to eighth in the table was little consolation for Gloucester.

Jack Clement, Ollie Thorley, Louis Rees-Zammit and Seb Atkinson crossed for the visitors, with George Barton kicking two conversions.

Rusi Tuima and Dafydd Jenkins scored the Chiefs' tries before Townsend's score helped turn the game around late on.

However, Exeter director of rugby Rob Baxter was far from satisfied with his side's performance.

"There's two ways of looking at it. During our successful years, we have won a lot of games like that with scores in the last five minutes," said Baxter.

"But then again the team have to ask themselves whether they were satisfied with their performance going in those final minutes, and today the answer would probably be not."

A fourth victory in six Premiership games this season lifts Exeter above Saracens into third in the table.
