Australia get themselves on the board with a first win of the Rugby Championship. The Pumas will rue their missed chances. Australia will take a lot from getting this result.
PENALTY, AUSTRALIA, DONALDSON, 19-20:
Australia snatch it at the death with that penalty at the hooter.
Australia get the penalty at last and could win it at the death.
Australia launch the counter but Jorgensen cannot hang on to the pass. The Pumas scramble the ball out on their own 22 where Australia have the lineout feed.
Lolesio knocks on in the air as the teams trade testers and Argentina have the scrum jutst inside the Australia half.
The referee wants this scrum resetand Australia face some nervous moments trying to clear this. They get the penalty though and kick up towards halfway.
Australia have to scramble back in defence and they force the error from the Pumas. The Wallabies have a scrum inside their own 22 but need to get up the other end of the pitch.
PENALTY, ARGENTINA, ALBORNOZ, 19-17:
Albornoz slots the kick to put Argentina back in front.
Argentina set up a lineout and get stopped just short with the maul. They win another penalty and call for the shot at goal.
Gallo dives over the line but loses the ball as he tries to get it down. Australia have a goal-line dropout. The Pumas run it back at them and they win a penalty.
Australia throw a wild pass on their own 22 and Argentina are suddenly on the attack. They will have the scrum inside the Wllaby 22.
Gordon finds a good touch on halfway from the scrum and that will be another boost for Australia. The Pumas get it down from the lineout and a kicking battle starts.
A forward pass gives Argentina the chance to set a scrum just outside the Australia 22. The Pumas spill it in the 22 though and we will have another scrum this time with Australia putting the ball in.
PENALTY, AUSTRALIA, LOLESIO, 16-17:
Lolesion slots this kick and gives Australia a one point lead.
Argentina are penalised at the lineout and Lolesio will have a kick to give Australia the lead.
The referee has issues with the scrum and wants it reset. Argentina need a clean exit here. They find touch but it isn't long and Australia feed the lineout on the Pumas 22.
Australia lose the ball in attack and Argentina will have the scrum after failing to use the advantage to clear their lines.
Australia now win the penalty at scrumtime and that could be a crucial moment for the Wallabies. They lose the lineout but then win the penalty again at the next breakdown. Tizzano did the crucial work and Australia are up into the Pumas 22 and set a maul.
Australia spill the restart and Argentina have an attacking scrum close to the Wallaby 22.
CONVERSION, AUSTRALIA, LOLESIO, 16-14:
Lolesio gets Australia within two.
TRY, AUSTRALIA, VALETINI, 16-12:
Valetini provides the decisive carry as Australia pile of the pressure and it tells.
Wilson picks and goes on the short side but is tackled into touch and Argentina secure their lineout ball and exit with the kick to touch just past ten from halfway in their own half.
A huge hit from Bell gives Australia the chance to win a turnover and they send it wide before kicking ahead. Koroibete is after it and forces Mallia to dot dead and give up the five metre scrum.
PENALTY, ARGENTINA, CARRERAS, 16-7:
Carreras stretches that lead for Argentina and that's a great start to the half for them.
The penalty call at scrum time goes against Australia and Argentina will call for the tee yet again.
Argentina knock on at the base and Australia have the scrum feed just outside their own 22.
Australia spill the restart and Argentina are straight onto teh attack to start the second half. Argentina keep it tight in these wet conditions but make progress towards the Aussie line but then they lose it and Australia kick clear. The Pumas go quickly though and find themselves back on the Australian 22.
HALF TIME: ARGENTINA 13-7 AUSTRALIA
Lolesio misses the late shot at goal and Argentina take a six-point lead into the break. Argentina didn't make the most of their attacking chances in the first half. Australia are still in the game despite struggling to get near the Pumas 22.
Australia get another penalty and this time Lolesio will call for the tee, with time running out in the first half.
Bell gets over the ball to win Australia and penalty and the Wallabies can launch another attack before the break.
Australia are on the ball in the Pumas half but another aimless kick sees them knock on and gift the Pumas the ball. Cinti drops it onto the toe but it rolls out inside the Australia 22.
PENALTY, ARGENTINA, CARRERAS, 13-7:
After some shot clock shenanigans, Carreras finally slots the penalty goal.
It is Argentina's turn to attack with advantage but they cannot use it and they might take the shot at goal here and in fact they have called for the shot at goal.
Australia knock on off the restartand now Argentina have the scrum feed inside the Wallabies 22 right after conceding.
CONVERSION, AUSTRALIA, LOLESIO, 10-7:
Lolesio converts.
TRY, AUSTRALIA, GORDON, 10-5:
Australia use the advantage to finally open up Argentina and Gordon runs a great support line to score.
Wright kicks from a free kick from the mark after the Pumas overcook a kick but the lineout feed is Argentina's. They secure the ball but then give away a penalty at the breakdown and finally Australia get back into the Pumas 22.
Tizzano gets over the ball to make the steal and wins the penalty for Australia who kick to touch ten from halfway, but will have to start another attack inside their own half.
Australia kick to touch after the scrum and find it ten from halfway. Australia get the lineout steal and try to spark an attack from inside their own half. A poor kick allows Argentina to start an attack. The Wallabies get back to defend the kick and find touch ten from halfway in response.
This time Argentina cannot hold the ball in attack but the crowd are baying for a high tackle call. Australia have the scrum feed in their own 22.
Australia take the man in the air off the restart and Argentina get the penalty and kick up towards halfway. They feed the lineout ten inside their own half and set another maul. Australia concede another penalty on maul defence and Carreras takes the game into the Wallaby 22.
CONVERSION, ARGENTINA, CARRERAS, 10-0:
Carreras converts.
TRY, ARGENTINA, GONZALEZ, 8-0:
Gonzalez goes over at the tail of the dominant maul.
Australia have to scramble back after a loose pass is intercepted and they seal off to give Argentina another penalty in their 22. This time they go to the corner.
PENALTY, ARGENTINA, CARRERAS, 3-0:
Carreras slots the kick to give Argentina a lead.
Australia turn to the kicking game again but this time it allows Mallia to kick the ball long and Lolesio has to rush back and kick clear for Australia and now Argentina have attacking lineout ball.
Australia attack through 27 phases before kicking and Argentina get back to dot dead. We will restart with a goal-line dropout but only after several players get attention.
Argentina defend well across the phases and Australia find themselves going backwards with the ball in hand.
Australia win the scrum penalty and there is a great deal of whooping and celebrating and Lolesio kicks to touch about 12 from the Argentina line.
Australia steal the lineout and then put up a contestable which is spilled by Argentina. The Wallabies have the scrum feed close to halfway just inside their own half.
KICK-OFF: Lolesio kicks off for Australia and he goes with a floated effort that comes down on the Pumas 22. Australia gather the restart but then knock on and gift Argentina a free exit. They kick long, Wright kicks back and finds touch inside his own 22.
Rainfall is predicted during the match and the temperature in La Plata may also dip dramatically during the contest with 10 degrees celsius the predicted temperature at the start.
